Danielle Giguere first visited Martha’s Vineyard when she began dating future husband Stuart Bangs. An active-duty US Coast Guard BM3 who grew up on the Vineyard, Stuart had always hoped to marry on the Island. Danielle was happy to comply. For their September wedding they wanted an intimate and elegant celebration that would honor family, draw from the beauty of the Island, and have some nautical flair.
Jewelry played a significant part in honoring Stuart and Danielle’s families and loved ones who had passed. The bride wore her great aunt’s pearl bracelet and a double-strand pearl necklace that had belonged to her grandmother. Danielle’s engagement ring and Stuart’s wedding band were those of his paternal grandparents, the late Dorothy and Stuart Bangs. A family friend chauffeured the couple around in his vintage 1940 Buick Limited limo for an added touch of glamor on their wedding day.
Having been deployed to Cuba shortly after proposing to Danielle, and remaining there for most of the planning stage, Stuart got a phone app that worked with WiFi to be able to call his bride-to-be as often as his schedule allowed. “It was really important to me that he had a say,” Danielle says. “I wanted him to enjoy the day as much as me.” The moment above, of Danielle’s beaming groom and his groomsmen, is testimony to that!
