Last Fling Before the Ring!

From sailing and fishing charters to food and drink tastings to yoga classes and spa days, Martha’s Vineyard has the bachelorette or bachelor party scene you desire.

For Emma Duffy’s June 2024 bachelorette party on Martha’s Vineyard, maid of honor Samantha Shubert planned an itinerary that made the most of what the Island has to offer, while also ensuring everyone had a relaxing and fun time. From their home base in Vineyard Haven, the group of friends went out for meals, hit the beach, strolled through downtown Edgartown, and enjoyed a few specially planned events.

The first took place on Friday afternoon when they set up a picnic in the yard of their Airbnb complete with blankets, pillows, flowers, a cheese tray, and an Aperol spritz station. Instead of worrying about capturing the day, and wanting to be in the moment, the group surprised Duffy by hiring Island photographer Sam Brooks. “I’m so glad to have these photos [of the picnic] that we will look back on forever,” said Shubert.

Another memorable event took place on the final night, when private chef Spring Sheldon came to their rental property for an at-home lobster bake. “This was such an incredible experience,” Shubert said. “It allowed us all to wind down, reflect on the weekend, and spend quality time with each other.”

While it’s important to book activities in advance, Shubert had one piece of advice for those planning a bachelorette or bachelor party on the Island: don’t overbook. “Leave a few hours of each day open for people to do whatever they want,” she said.

From spending time on the water to relaxing at a spa, farm tours to food and drink tastings, there are plenty of activities on the Island that are perfect for a bachelorette or bachelor party. Here are some ideas to create a fun – and memorable – weekend for everyone.
