Five years ago, Spence Clark and Parker Homans found each other through one of the digital age’s hotspots for love: Instagram. Soon after, the Tampa, Florida–based couple began dating, and in 2024 got engaged at their favorite breakfast spot in the city. Though the sunshine state remains their home, Parker’s Vineyard ties led them to the Island to say “I do” in September of 2025.
Parker grew up summering on the Vineyard, and his parents now live year-round on Lake Tashmoo. “My dad’s family grew up going there back to the 1800s, so the Vineyard has been very special to me,” he said. His affection for the Island is now something he and Spence share.
The pair planned their wedding themselves – which took place at the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club – carefully selecting Island vendors to help them achieve the celebration of their dreams. For catering, they hit it off with Black Sheep, whose dishes didn’t disappoint. Parker and Spence were particularly fond of the salad – local lettuce, shaved radishes, and a generous helping of dill topped with a champagne vinaigrette and flakes of Parmesan.
They hired florist Louise Sweet of Flowers on the Vineyard and worked with her from afar on their floral vision. On their wedding day, they were thrilled to find that her arrangements of late-summer blooms was exactly what they had in mind.
Their ceremony was held on the yacht club’s dock, where they walked down the aisle together with their mothers and Tiny, their Chihuahua mix. Following their vows, guests moved inside, where the space was swathed in soft pink, light blue, green, and neutrals to keep things feeling fresh.
Throughout the planning process, the pair often found themselves straying from tradition. They opted not to have a first dance, and in the spirit of Vineyard summers, they had pie instead of cake. The yacht club’s no-candle policy forced them to rethink their lighting; they used modern lamps on tables to achieve the moody, amber glow of candlelight.
Instead of keeping the festivities confined to their wedding day, they stretched them all week long. They hosted a dinner at the Homans’ family home on Wednesday, as well as a Friday welcome party and a Sunday brunch. On Thursday, guests had some fun at Nomans in Oak Bluffs, followed by the Pelican Club and The Wharf Restaurant & Pub in Edgartown.
Ultimately, all the pieces coalesced into a celebration they’ll never forget. “It was pretty perfect,” Parker said. “We finished the whole entire week feeling like we wanted to do it again.”
