Olivia & Michael

An elopement that celebrated just the two of them.

Olivia was in her first year of veterinary school and Michael had just returned to Massachusetts from Washington state when they met at a coffee shop in Boston. After sharing a conversation about an early-’90s TV show and a chocolate scone, the rest, as they say, is history.

Once the couple knew they wanted to spend their lives together, they decided to elope rather than plan an elaborate wedding day. “It simply felt right for us,” Olivia explained. “We wanted a day full of intimacy and love, just celebrating the two of us.”

Choosing Martha’s Vineyard as the location was an easy decision – Michael had spent time on the Island while growing up and he had brought Olivia when they were dating. She said she fell in love with Martha’s Vineyard right away. “For some reason, I think we both knew that if and when we got married, it had to be here.”

When the big day arrived, the couple spent time in Chilmark with their small wedding group before setting off for their first look in Menemsha. Next, they made their way to Moshup Beach in Aquinnah for their ceremony, which was officiated by a close friend. They said “I do” on what turned out to be a spectacular early October day. Golden hour fell just as photos were taken. “It was seventy, sunny, and absolutely the best day of our lives,” Olivia said.

With events unfolding without a hitch, Olivia said it was difficult to choose one favorite part of their wedding day. “Truthfully, the entire day was amazing, and we were so fortunate in every way. We truly appreciate everyone who made the day possible.”
