A Place for Everyone

A dreamy table design can be tailored to any budget.

Never has a table seemed a more important symbol of uniting with loved ones to create memories and celebrate milestones. Whether you dream of gathering around a lavish or simply elegant table, with a big budget or a smaller one, Kristen Gosselin of KG Events & Design and Emily Coulter of Morrice Florist prove a beautiful table design is achievable for all.

Simplicity doesn’t have to be boring. Flowers are often the biggest expense in table design, so Coulter opted to use bud vases in lieu of a large arrangement, which carry interest along the length of the table and establish the color palette. Gosselin rounded out the look with dreamy, ethereal touches, including loose petals woven between various types of candles, gold-plated designer flatware, and delicately printed napkins. “Candles can make up for so much in a display,” she says.

Looking to up the wow factor? Consider layering a centerpiece with bud vases, petals, and tapers. “Adding in a larger arrangement instantly helps the table feel more expensive, lush, and colorful,” says Coulter. A white tablecloth gets a visual upgrade with the addition of a bold runner and colorful details. “The patterned linen runner is a fun way to add dimension” and creates the appearance of a fuller table, says Gosselin. This look leaves room for plates and bowls, ideal for family-style gatherings.

If the sky is the limit when it comes to your budget, Coulter recommends incorporating the sky into your floral design. “Flowers and tablescapes are the perfect place for the couple to show who they are. They are the personality of the wedding.” To create the look Coulter strung cherry blossoms over a lavish floral array. Gosselin added a variety of luxury touches, including calligraphy name cards and menus printed on handmade paper, whitewashed rattan chargers, and a delicate pink patterned linen.
