It was Faye Strothers and Predrag Novkovic’s first visit to Martha’s Vineyard this past spring when the pair, who have been together for seven years, decided to take a sunset sail on Edgartown Harbor. Faye was captivated by the look of the catboat Tigress, with her stars and stripes sail, and booked a private cruise. Without her knowledge, Predrag then contacted Captain Kurt Peterson to ask his permission to propose while on the boat. “He said, ‘It would be my honor,’” Predrag remembered.

“During the first half of our sail I went through the history of our relationship, how much she meant to me, and all the things that I look forward to in the future,” said Predrag. They then went to refill their drinks, Faye went below deck for a minute, and Predrag got ready to pop the question. While out on the front of the boat staring off at the sunset, Predrag got down on one knee and asked Faye to marry him while the Tigress’s first mate snapped some photos to capture the momentous occasion. “She was completely surprised and even started crying at first!” said Predrag. But Faye said yes, of course, and the two popped a bottle of champagne in celebration.
